Preview your Google search snippet

Before a page goes live, it helps to see how it will appear in Google's results. Type your title, URL, and meta description and this tool renders a realistic preview, truncating the title and description the way Google does so you can tell whether your important words will actually show.

Why the preview matters

Your title and description are your "ad" in the search results — they decide whether people click. If the title runs past ~60 characters or the description past ~160, Google cuts it off with an ellipsis, often hiding your call to action. Front-load the key message so it survives truncation.

FAQ

Will Google use exactly what I write?

Usually for the title, but not always for the description — Google sometimes rewrites the snippet using text from the page that better matches the search. A strong, relevant description still gives you the best chance of having yours used.

How long should my title and description be?

Aim for roughly 60 characters for the title and 160 for the description. Beyond those limits Google truncates the text with an ellipsis, so front-load your key message and call to action so they survive the cut.

Does the tool count pixels or characters?

Google actually truncates by pixel width, not character count, so capital letters and wide characters take up more room. This preview renders the snippet realistically so you can judge whether your important words will actually show.

Is the SERP preview free, and is my data private?

Yes to both. It is free with no sign-up, and the preview is rendered entirely in your browser, so the title, URL, and description you enter never leave your device.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The tool works in mobile browsers, which is handy since mobile search results truncate snippets differently — checking both helps you write snippets that read well everywhere.
