How the “days until” countdown works

This tool counts the whole calendar days between today and the date you pick. It works entirely in your browser using your device’s local time zone, so the count matches the calendar on your wall — no off-by-one surprises from time-zone conversions. How we count the days

We take the difference between the two calendar dates at local midnight and round to whole days. If your target date is in the past, we show how many days have already passed instead. The weeks figure is the day count divided by seven (rounded down), and the months figure is an approximation using the average month length of about 30.44 days — handy for a rough sense of scale, but not a substitute for exact calendar months, which vary from 28 to 31 days.

Does it include today in the count?

No — it counts the days between now and your date. If you pick tomorrow, it shows 1 day. If you need to include both endpoints (for example, counting nights or billing days), use our days between two dates tool, which has an “include the end date” option.

The tool recognises this and shows a zero-day result with a small celebration.

Is leap year handled?

Yes. Because we count real calendar days, leap days (February 29) are automatically included whenever they fall inside the range.
