Weighted grades, the right way

Most courses don't count every assignment equally — homework might be 20% of your grade while the final is 35%. This calculator takes each category's grade and its weight and combines them into your true overall grade.

How it works

It multiplies each grade by its weight, adds those products up, and divides by the total weight: (Σ grade × weight) ÷ Σ weight. Because it divides by the total weight, your weights don't have to add up to exactly 100 — the proportions are what matter.

What format should each line be?

Enter one category per line as name, grade, weight — the name is optional, so 92, 20 works too. Mix as many categories as you like.

Do my weights have to add up to 100?

No. The calculator divides by the total of all the weights you enter, so only the proportions matter. Weights of 20, 30, and 50 give the same result as 2, 3, and 5 — enter whatever numbers your syllabus uses.

Is this weighted grade calculator free and private?
