Minimum night differential is 10% under the Labor Code; some employers and CBAs pay more. Hourly rate from monthly uses a 261-day ÷ 8-hour factor.

What is night-shift differential?

Under the Philippine Labor Code, employees are entitled to a night-shift differential of at least 10% of their regular hourly rate for every hour worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. It's extra pay for the inconvenience of working overnight, on top of your normal wage.

How it's computed

Night differential = hourly rate × 10% × night hours worked. This tool can derive your hourly rate from a monthly salary (using the standard 261-working-day, 8-hour factor) or take an hourly rate directly, then show both the differential premium and your total pay for those night hours.

FAQ

Does it stack with overtime and holiday pay?

Yes. Night differential is computed on top of overtime and holiday premiums when those overlap. For example, overtime hours worked after 10 PM earn the overtime rate and the night differential. This tool covers the basic night differential; for holiday/overtime use our overtime & holiday pay calculator. Not legal advice — verify with DOLE.

Which hours count as night-shift hours?

Only hours actually worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM qualify for the differential. A shift that runs partly outside that window earns the premium only on the portion inside it, so enter just the night hours worked.

Is the 10% rate fixed?

Ten percent is the legal minimum set by the Labor Code, but many companies pay more under a CBA or company policy. The tool defaults to 10%; if your employer pays a higher rate, adjust the figure to match your actual agreement.

How does it get my hourly rate from a monthly salary?

It divides your monthly salary using the standard 261-working-day, 8-hour-per-day factor to derive an hourly rate, then applies the 10% night differential to your night hours. You can also enter an hourly rate directly if you already know it.

Does my salary stay private, and is the tool free?

Yes to both. The computation runs entirely in your browser so your salary is never sent anywhere, and the calculator is free with no sign-up and works on mobile.
