Create timed captions for a video in minutes. Upload the file, pick the spoken language, and download ready-to-use .srt or .vtt subtitles for YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Premiere, CapCut or VLC. Only the audio is sent for transcription, and nothing is stored.
Drop a video or audio file here, or browse
MP4, MOV, WebM, MP3, M4A, WAV… up to ~90 minutes and 750 MB.
Always play the video with the subtitles once before publishing — names, jargon and overlapping speech are the usual places to fix by hand.
Make subtitles for a video automatically
Captions make a video watchable on mute — which is how most people scroll Facebook, TikTok and Reels — and they help viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who are still learning the language. Typing them by hand takes hours. This generator listens to your video, writes down what's said with Whisper, and times each line to the moment it's spoken, so you get a finished subtitle file in minutes.
Only the audio track is sent for processing; the video stays on your device and nothing is stored.
SRT or VTT — which one do I need?
Both are plain-text caption files with the same timings; they differ only in format details.
- SRT (.srt) is the most widely supported. Use it for YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut and VLC.
- WebVTT (.vtt) is the web standard. Use it for HTML5
<video>players, Vimeo, and most online course platforms.
If you're not sure, download the SRT — nearly every editor and platform accepts it.
How the timing and line breaks work
Whisper returns the speech in timed segments. The generator splits long segments into cues of at most two lines, with each line kept to about 42 characters (the broadcast standard) or 32 if you choose the short setting for vertical, phone-first video. Time is shared out across the pieces in proportion to how much text each holds, so a long sentence doesn't sit on screen as one block.
English subtitles for Tagalog videos
Set Subtitle language → English (translate) to caption a Tagalog, Taglish or other non-English video in English — useful for reaching viewers abroad or for OFW family videos. This uses Whisper large-v3's built-in speech translation, which captures meaning well; check idioms and jokes before publishing. For captions in the language actually spoken, keep Same as spoken and set the spoken language to Tagalog.
FAQ
How do I add the subtitles to YouTube?
In YouTube Studio, open the video → Subtitles → Add language → under Subtitles choose Add → Upload file → With timing, and select the .srt file. On Facebook, edit the video, open Subtitles & captions, and upload the .srt there.
Can I burn the subtitles into the video?
Yes — import the .srt into an editor like CapCut, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve and export with the captions rendered on the picture. Burned-in captions are what most short-form creators use, since some apps ignore uploaded caption files.
How accurate are the timings?
Usually within a fraction of a second of the speech. Timings can drift slightly around long pauses, music, or where several people talk at once. Play the video with the subtitles once and nudge any lines that feel early or late in your editor.
Can I edit the subtitles before downloading?
The files are plain text, so you can open the downloaded .srt or .vtt in any text editor (Notepad, TextEdit) and correct words without touching the timestamp lines. Most video editors also let you edit caption text directly.
What's the maximum video length?
About 90 minutes and 750 MB per file. Longer videos are processed in roughly five-minute parts, with progress shown; the timings are stitched back together so the whole file lines up.
