Turn a video into text. Your browser extracts the audio track only — the video itself never leaves your device — and the speech is transcribed by Whisper large-v3-turbo. Nothing is stored.

MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V… up to ~90 minutes and 750 MB.

Tagalog or Taglish video? Set the language to Tagalog for the best result.

Turn any video into text

Drop in an MP4, MOV or WebM file and get a written transcript of everything that's said — ready to paste into a document, a blog post, meeting minutes or a video description. The speech is transcribed by Whisper large-v3-turbo, a high-accuracy speech-recognition model that handles English, Tagalog and Taglish.

Your video is never uploaded. Your browser reads the file locally, pulls out just the audio track, converts it to compact 16 kHz mono audio and sends only that for transcription. A 500 MB video typically becomes a few megabytes of audio, which is why long videos still finish quickly. Nothing is stored after your transcript is made.

Plain text or with timestamps

When the transcript is ready you can switch between two views. Plain text is one continuous block — best for reading, quoting or summarising. With timestamps puts the time each passage starts in front of it, like [03:42] Ang next agenda natin…, so you can jump straight to that moment in the video when you need to check a quote, cut a clip, or write chapter markers for YouTube.

If what you actually need is captions that appear on screen, use the Subtitle Generator instead — it produces properly timed .srt and .vtt files split into readable two-line cues.

Good uses for video transcription

  • Recorded meetings and webinars — Zoom, Google Meet and Teams recordings, turned into notes you can search.
  • Interviews and vlogs — pull quotes for an article or a caption without re-watching.
  • Lectures and trainings — review what was taught, or make a written reviewer from a class recording.
  • Your own social videos — reuse what you said on camera as a post, a script, or a description.

FAQ

Which video formats work?

Anything your browser can play: MP4 (H.264/AAC) and MOV from phones and cameras, WebM from screen recorders, and M4V. Some .mkv and .avi files use audio codecs browsers can't decode — if one fails, convert it to MP4 first, or export the audio and use Audio to Text.

Is my video uploaded to your server?

No. Only the extracted audio is sent — in short chunks — to our server, which passes it to our speech-to-text provider (Groq) to transcribe. The video file stays on your device, and the audio and transcript are not stored after processing.

How long can the video be?

Up to about 90 minutes and 750 MB. Long videos are split into roughly five-minute parts and transcribed in order, with progress shown as it goes. For longer recordings, trim them into parts and run each one.

Can I paste a YouTube link?

Not directly — this tool works on video files you have. If it's your own YouTube upload, you can download the original from YouTube Studio (Content → the video's menu → Download) and upload that file here.

Does it work for Tagalog and Taglish videos?

Yes. For the best result set the language to Tagalog: Auto-detect sometimes labels mixed Tagalog and English as English and skips the Tagalog parts. Clear speech with little background music gives the most accurate transcript.

Why are some words wrong?

Background music, several people talking over each other, and names or brand terms the model hasn't heard are the usual causes. Music with singing is the hardest case — speech models can "hear" lyrics that aren't there. Always proofread names and numbers before you publish a transcript.
