Ingredients

  • 500 g spaghetti
  • 500 g ground pork or beef
  • 5 hot dogs, sliced diagonally
  • 1 cup banana ketchup
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar or quick-melt)

Instructions

  1. 1 Cook the spaghetti according to the package, then drain and set aside.
  2. 2 Sauté garlic and onion, then brown the ground meat.
  3. 3 Add the hot dogs and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. 4 Pour in the banana ketchup, tomato sauce, and sugar. Simmer for 15 minutes until thick and sweet.
  5. 5 Season to taste. Serve the sauce over the noodles and top generously with grated cheese.

Tips

  • Banana ketchup is what makes it taste Filipino — it’s sweeter and milder than tomato ketchup.
  • Add a little hot dog water or broth if the sauce gets too thick.
